We’ve pressed the upgrade button. Firmly. It's still the amazingly agile Adventure bike it has always been – with performance to push to the limit – but with extra low-down torque for drive, a new adjustable screen and now with tubeless tyres that are easily repairable. Arguably the biggest upgrade though is that it packs Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment (Showa-EERA™) which means optimum damping settings, all the time - and you can swap between modes, and adjust rear spring preload while riding. The Africa Twin ES also packs heated grips and an ACC socket as standard.
Now packing Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment (Showa-EERA™) which means optimum damping settings, all the time. Want a perfect base setting? Choose Mid. There’s also Hard, for progressive riding, touring, or carrying a pillion and luggage. Soft for easy manoeuvrability, and Off-Road for precise suspension reaction away from tarmac. User allows total customisation (when stationary) and you can swap between modes – and adjust rear spring preload – while riding.
Features
Stronger 1084cc Parallel Twin Engine
The parallel-twin engine delivers 7% more torque - thanks to tuned intake and exhaust systems. Offering torque everywhere from idle to redline. You have plenty of grunt down low, and can cruise easily on the open road. The narrow layout makes the bike shorter front-to-back. That means the front wheel can tuck in closer to the engine, shortening the wheelbase, and making the bike more nimble both on and off road.
Cruise Control
The Africa Twin is as much at home on the open road as it is on the dirt. For that extra comfort when touring, cruise control is standard, so you can just relax and enjoy the view.
Selectable Riding Modes
Pick one of the four default riding mode settings: TOUR, URBAN, GRAVEL and OFF-ROAD to cover most riding conditions and situations, or customise your own with the USER settings. In all modes (both default and user) the levels of Honda Selectable Torque Control and wheelie control can be adjusted to rider preference.
Semi-Double Cradle Frame
The semi-double cradle frame layout has been proven in countless Honda off-road bikes. The design is similar to the one used on the Rally factory Dakar race bike, a machine that’s designed to perform in the most challenging conditions.
Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC)
With Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) you can dial in exactly the kind of power delivery you want for the conditions at hand. It features seven different settings (and can also be turned off) for a wide range of conditions, from pavement to fast, loose gravel roads, or even challenging trails.
Selectable ABS
These bikes come with three Anti-Lock Breaking System (ABS) modes: on-road, off-road, and a mode that turns off the rear ABS system for dirt riding.
Heated Grips
Cold winter mornings are no worry with heated grips as standard on the Africa Twin ES.
For Every Adventure
The Africa Twin is loaded with electronics that make the ride more enjoyable and safer. No matter the route. 7-level Honda Selectable Torque Control – managed by a 6-Axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) – monitors rear wheel traction and smoothly gathers up drive on- or off-road. 3-level wheelie control gives just the front wheel lift you want, while cornering ABS inspires full braking confidence. Four default riding modes, URBAN, TOUR, GRAVEL and OFF-ROAD are set ready but you can go fully custom, across all of the parameters, in USER mode.
Extra Wind Protection
The taller, wider screen adjusts through 5 positions for maximum forward visibility or maximum wind protection - you choose.
Standard Fit Tubeless Tyres
Sometimes, mid adventure, small details matter. 21-inch front/18-inch rear rims now wear tubeless tyres, with a revised spoke design, for easy roadside repairs.
TFT Touch Screen with Apple’s CarPlay™ and Android Auto
The fully customisable colour 6.5-inch LCD display seamlessly integrates with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto for smartphone functions such as maps, music, and other services.
Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT)
Equipped with a six-speed DCT, for smooth automatic shifting up and down. Perfect for long distance riding. It’s newly updated, for a natural feel on launch, and at low speeds. Customisable, from relaxed to sports performance. You can also switch to manual control using the left-hand trigger-shifters. And, when riding off-road, a press of G switch (on the TFT display) reduces clutch slip, boosting rear wheel traction and feel.
